Duties and ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Coordinators prepare volunteer recruitment plans and include ways to select the potential candidate. Identify the volunteers that fit the organizations requirements. Choose the volunteers with the set skills set and the organizations purpose of recruitment. Provide appropriate training to the volunteers for their job. It includes organizing orientation, providing tours, and on-the-job training.Ensure that the recruited volunteers feel welcomed and comfortable in their job. Conduct interviews and select individuals as per their roles. Appoint responsibilities to the right person for the volunteering events.Communicate with the individuals and big groups. Volunteers contact the volunteer coordinator for any problem or guidance. Collect and manage up-to-date information of volunteers. Use various marketing tools to share information with volunteers. It includes emails, newsletters, volunteer databases, outreach events, etc. Keep complete data and schedules of Volunteers work. Keep the volunteers informed about the organization and available opportunities. Organize informative sessions to prepare volunteers before their volunteering events.Prepare the code of conduct and operating procedure as per the organizations purpose.Convey the organizations objective to the public. Coordinate with communication and marketing departments to prepare content for different communication platforms, identify volunteers contributions, and help with promoting volunteering events. Match interested volunteers with an opportunity that suits their skill set and serves the organization.Coordinate and schedule volunteers on an ongoing basis and/or organize single volunteer events.Actively recruit volunteers.Ensure that individual volunteers feel comfortable with their placements and fully understand their responsibilities. Conduct interviews to determine the roles that volunteers will take.Serve as a point of contact for larger volunteer groups (rather than individuals).Ensure that all volunteers receive proper training through conducting and leading on-the-job training and/or informational sessions prior to volunteer events.Maintain communication with existing volunteers. Since volunteers are usually unpaid and their services greatly contribute to an organization's functions, it is important that they feel appreciated and stay informed.Hold events to thank volunteers or send individual correspondences. Informative emails and newsletters are often sent to volunteers to keep them updated with happenings within the organization and informed of additional opportunities to participate.REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSE(S), CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:Education: High School, AA; BA or higherCertified Peer Support Specialist credential within 6 months of hire (Peer Olympia will assist with obtaining the required training)Washington State Drivers License (must have insurable driving record to be able to drive company vehicles and/or personal vehicles)Experience: Must be a person who has lived or experienced homelessness or recovery of substance abuse. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background checkADDITIONAL CREDENTIALS / EXPERIENCE:Has an understanding of Home - Recovery Caf Network (recoverycafenetwork.org)s ethical and practice guidelines to include, being open minded, recovery oriented, hopeful, respectful, empathetic, strengths focused and person centered.Experience and Knowledge Have prior experience as volunteer coordinator, director, manager, or with operating work. Have experience with volunteering at local or events. Have experience with Recruitment tools. Working knowledge of databases and software like MS Excel, MS Office. Know marketing tools for organizing volunteering events. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Communication Skills: To communicate with the volunteers, marketing, and communication department. They need to motivate and inspire others with their excellent communication skills. Networking Skills: To organize and promote local and national volunteering events. Leadership Skills: lead the volunteers and teams for the functioning of volunteering work properly. Management: To formulate, organize and manage various volunteering projects and assign duties to volunteers. Time Management: Organizes and handles all the events in the given amount of time. Resolve Conflict: Coordinate with various departments and individual or big groups.Open-Minded: Be open-minded and willing to listen to others perspectives.Attention to Detail: Formulate code of conduct, identify and screen volunteers as per their skills and work, and ensure everything reflects organizations purposes and valuesInterpersonal: Know how to deal with different types of people and understand their perspectives for the smooth functioning of volunteering work. Organization and Team Management Skills: To develop, administer and manage various projects, schedules for the volunteer. Identify the appropriate candidates for the suitable role and ensure they work properly.
