Position Description

Xcel Energy is seeking a Data Analytics Intern to join our Mass Market Product Management team. This team develops and delivers innovative programs that help residential customers make informed energy choices. We manage a broad portfolio of initiatives including renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, and the digital platforms that support these efforts.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with data analytics and data science teams to extract, process, and analyze large volumes of operational and customer data
• Utilize tools such as Power BI and Excel, and platforms including Salesforce and Databricks, to identify trends and generate actionable insights
• Support business decision-making through data visualization, performance optimization, and regulatory reporting
• Shadow experienced analysts to learn best practices in data management and analysis
• Progress to independent project work, including dashboard development and metric reporting for leadership

This position is for a June 1st, 2026 start. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel's business needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Current student, Junior or Senior status (as of Fall 2026)
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• Able to commute to the corporate office in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the spring (up to 20 hours a week).
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Databricks)
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework, including classes in Intermediate Accounting, Auditing, and/or Tax
• Experience or proficiency with data analytics tools.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.40 to $21.60 per hour. This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays.
