About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant to help manage our day-to-day financial tasks. This role does not require a formal accounting background -- just a strong work ethic, accuracy, and comfort working with numbers and software such as QuickBooks. You will play an important part in keeping our financial records up to date and ensuring smooth business operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create invoices in QuickBooks and handle monthly/quarterly billing cycles
  • Receive customer payments and accurately record them in QuickBooks
  • Track, organize, and file payment records
  • Prepare and make bank deposits as needed
  • Generate monthly inventory reports
  • File and submit monthly sales tax reports
  • Monitor vendor invoices to ensure timely payments before due dates
  • Prepare receivables lists multiple times each week and follow up on past due accounts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred but not required (training will be provided)
  • Good attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognize errors
  • Mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping
  • Administrative skills for filing financial records
  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and QuickBooks
  • Multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers, suppliers, and other employees in the accounts department
  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms
